Conventions of thriller and opening sequence
SOUND
- Eerie music - uncomfortable - something about to happen. Makes us feel uncomfortable knowing that something is about to happen.
- Wind heard, setting scene (cold place) of beginning. Sound gradually gets louder
- From outside it goes into music from inside a van.
- Hypherbolic breathing of girls - might have just killed man. Close up of screen saying TAXA
MISE-EN-SCENE
- Eyes moving - attached recently
- See girl dropping bloody knife (close up) hear noise of knife
- Black screen showing uncertainty/unease (possible death). Until we can see what is going on we feel uneasy
- There is a car on a dirt pathway and has dye in hair - this shows rebellion
CINEMATOGRAPHY
- Long shot of sea going to land. Something bad (death) might happen near there.
- Zooms in closer to a large car with 2 people walking away from it (camera tracks)
- Close ups in van, not showing all that is going on, showing black on window. One girl is in focus with a mean face (main character?). One girl behind, out of focus.
- Close up of man against steering wheel. Dead? Violence?
EDITING
- Slowly fades in to a scene of open water and land
- Who are the two girls?
- Why are they walking down a pathway near the coast?
- Murder? as there is blood in the van and close up of possible dead man. Possible connection with horror film - place is isolated.
